Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police collected over Rs 15 cr as fine from different districts of the state for violation of coronavirus guidelines.
Odisha DGP Abhay said Rs 6 cr was collected as fines from the public for not wearing masks said and added that the deadly coronavirus could be kept at bay only by maintaining social distancing and wearing masks. As many as 553 persons were arrested in this connection.
DGP Abhay advised the public not to visit police stations during the ongoing pandemic and added that they should instead call the police station or the SP office for any assistance.
The Odisha DGP urged the people to abide by weekend shutdowns and night curfews being implemented by the authorities to contain coronavirus.
