Odisha To Experience Paradoxical Weather Conditions Today

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience paradoxical weather conditions on Monday. While the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the intense heatwave in 14 districts of the state today, a yellow warning for thunderstorms and rain has been issued in 19 districts.

According to the weather office, the maximum temperatures (day temperatures) are likely to fall by 2°C-3°C during the next two days due to the effect of the Nor’wester, the mercury will rise again after April 25 primarily due to the northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation. The mercury may touch 45°C in some places of the state on Monday, the IMD has warned.

The weather office has issued an orange alert for heatwave conditions in Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nayagarh.

At the same time, a yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph in Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Sambalpur.
