The Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA), Bhubaneswar, conducted the Passing Out Parade of the 9th batch of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. S.P.) probationers on April 6, 2026.
Under the supervision of Smt. Shyni S, IPS, ADGP & Director (Training), the ceremony marked the successful completion of rigorous training by five probationers: Shrusty Pradhan, Dibya Ranjan Nath, Sourav Ranjan Pradhan, Samarth Kumar Behera, and Pankaj Kumar Majhi.
The probationers joined BPSPA in December 2023 after selection by the Odisha Public Service Commission. Their training included constitutional framework, human rights, criminology, policing ethics, forensic science, and court craft. Outdoor modules covered physical training, police drills, tactics, firing practice, unarmed combat, swimming, firefighting, and driving. They also underwent field training across districts and specialised courses at Chandaka.
BPSPA, recognised as the Best Police Training Institute in India with the Union Home Minister’s Trophy in 2021, has consistently ranked first among Eastern Zone academies from 2017 to 2020. The academy continues to shape officers with empathy, discipline, and people-centric policing values.
During the ceremony, probationers received medals for outstanding performance. Shrusty Pradhan won the Governor’s Medal and Trophy for securing the highest marks overall, along with awards in indoor subjects, outdoor subjects, the AET course, and forensic science. Sourav Ranjan Pradhan received the trophy for second-best probationer and recognition in criminology. Pankaj Majhi also earned honours for excellence.
Faculty members, including Sri Akash Chandra Sahoo, Smt. Kaberi Pradhan, Sri Ashok Kumar Biswal, Sri Ranjan Kumar Das, and Sri Ranjit Thapa were felicitated for their contribution to training.
The Passing Out Parade of Dy. S.P. probationers reaffirmed BPSPA’s commitment to producing officers dedicated to public service and constitutional values.
