Odisha Works Department Principal Secretary, Sanjay Kumar Singh, IAS, visited Ganjam district today to inspect and review the progress of major infrastructure works, including the Brahmapur Ring Road and the Gate Bazar Flyover.
During his review, Secretary Singh instructed the executing agencies and officials to deploy adequate manpower, modern machinery, and advanced technology to speed up construction. He issued strict directions to clear all pending work and ensure the complete rollout of the Brahmapur Ring Road project by March 2027.
Underlining the state’s zero-tolerance policy on quality, Singh emphasized that technical standards outlined in the contract must be met without compromise. He advised senior engineers to perform regular progress reviews, ensuring strict supervision and monitoring so that project milestones are achieved within the set timelines.
In addition to the Ring Road, Secretary Singh personally inspected the ongoing construction at the Gate Bazar Flyover, which is being executed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC). Being built at an estimated cost of ₹130 crore, the flyover project has achieved 36 percent completion so far. The Secretary directed departmental officers and the contractor agency to complete the remaining construction work by July 2027.
The inspection team included Superintending Engineer Damodar Kaibarta (Chief Construction Engineer, Southern Circle R&B, Brahmapur), Superintending Engineer Somanath Tripathy (Ganjam R&B Division), Assistant Executive Engineer Chandray Marndi (Roads R&B Sub-Division), alongside key representatives from the contracting agency.
