A speeding car lost control and rammed into a roadside tea shop near the sub-jail at Chauriaaguda in Nabarangpur town, leaving two people critically injured on Monday morning.
Eyewitnesses said the victims were inside the shop when the vehicle struck. Emergency services rushed them to the district headquarters hospital by ambulance for urgent treatment.
The accident occurred along National Highway-26, which passes through the heart of Nabarangpur. Residents complained that frequent encroachments and roadside business establishments have turned the stretch into a high-risk accident zone.
Local traders blocked the highway after the incident, demanding immediate intervention from the district administration. They alleged that despite repeated accidents, authorities ignored safety concerns and failed to regulate roadside activities.
The narrow road and congestion have worsened the situation, making the area prone to mishaps. Citizens urged the police and administration to enforce strict measures to safeguard lives and prevent further tragedies.
