Bhubaneswar: Amid much hue and cry over vulgarity in Opera parties and melody troupes, the Odisha Government has finally imposed restriction on such shows in the State.

In a letter to the Collectors and SPs, Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture directed to stop kinds of obscene scenes and nudity in opera shows. The department also acted tough on dialogues having dual meaning.

The letter clearly mentioned that the district administration should set certain terms and conditions against any kind of obscenity while giving permission for such shoes.

“There will be no obscenity or nudity. There will also be no ambiguous dialogue in Jatra and melody even though these are popular form of entertainment in the state, the department stated in the letter”.

Due to vulgar dances, gestures, acting with ambiguous dialogues, a family can’t enjoy the drama sitting together. Young men and women are going astray due to such programmes that lead to deterioration of Odia culture.
