The Odisha Government has accepted the resignation of Jagmohan Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar, and forwarded it to the Union Home Ministry for final approval.

Meena, a 2013‑batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, had submitted his resignation in July citing personal reasons. He clarified that the decision was taken after discussions with family and friends, and was not influenced by external pressure or political intervention.

At 37 years of age, Meena hails from Rajasthan and is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur. He secured an All‑India Rank of 849 in the UPSC examination before joining the Indian Police Service. Over his 13‑year career, he served in key postings including Superintendent of Police in Anugola, Ganjam and Malkangiri, and DCP in Kataka, before assuming charge as Bhubaneswar DCP on February 28, 2025.

During his resignation submission, Meena indicated plans to join the private sector, with reports suggesting possible association with a company run by his relatives in Rajasthan. He stressed that this was a purely personal choice.

Under All India Services rules, an IPS officer’s resignation becomes effective only after approval by the Union Home Ministry. With the state government forwarding the resignation, the Centre’s decision is now awaited.

Meena expressed gratitude to the Odisha Government and citizens, saying he was proud to have served the people of the state.
