Bhubaneswar: Odisha Day was celebrated by the Odia Wing of Muscat-based Indian Social Club, Oman on 8th May, 2021 through virtual mode.
Ranendra Pratap Swain, Minister, Food Supply & Consumer Welfare, Cooperation addressed the celebration and expressed his best wishes to the Odias, living in Oman and lauded their effort in improving Oman-Odisha relations.
Minister Swain said that since its formation as a separate State, Odisha has made rapid progress both in the agriculture and industrial sector. Odisha is now considered a favourite destination for investors. He paid homage to Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das, Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Narayan Dev, Sri Ramchandra Bhanjdeo, and other luminaries for their efforts and sacrifice for the formation of Odisha State.
The Cooperation Minister expressed his pleasure that a small but strong Odia Diaspora is working in Oman and contributing in their own way for the development of the country and hope that it will improve the bilateral relations between India and Oman.
In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, Odisha is playing an important role in supplying vital medical Oxygen to other States, said Minister Swain.
In the mega virtual celebration HE Er. Ridha Bin Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, renowned spiritual preacher Guruji Dr. Chandrabhanu Satpathy, Sri Manu Mahawar, Ambassador of India to Oman, Dr. Satish Nambiar, Chairman, Indian Social Club, Oman Sri Prasanna Kumar Dash, Retired bureaucrat Sri Manoj Mohapatra, Convenor, Odisha Wing of ISC also spoke on the occasion.
