In a decisive move to strengthen the state’s response to the ongoing flood crisis, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assigned specific monitoring responsibilities to senior cabinet colleagues for relief and rehabilitation operations.
The decision came after the Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected regions earlier today. Determined to ensure swift, coordinated action on the ground, Majhi has placed key leaders in charge of some of the worst-hit districts.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo will oversee relief and rehabilitation work in Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur. Fellow Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has been given charge of Baleshwar, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari will monitor operations in Puri district, while Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Rabinarayan Naik will supervise efforts in Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar.
In addition, other ministers have been directed to visit their respective districts as in-charge ministers and closely track the progress of relief distribution, rescue operations and rehabilitation measures.
The Chief Minister’s Office emphasised that the assignments aim to bring greater accountability and speed to the government’s flood response, ensuring that affected families receive timely assistance and support for recovery.
With water levels still high in several river systems and low-lying areas under threat, the focused ministerial oversight is expected to accelerate on-ground coordination between district administrations, disaster response teams and local bodies.
