In a shocking case of dowry-related violence, a staff nurse named Krishna Sahu was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in Nehenabandh village, under Patnagarh police station in Odisha’s Bolangir district, on April 18, 2025.
Krishna, who worked at Padampur Sub-Divisional Hospital in Bargarh district, leaves behind a two-year-old son and a grieving family. Her father has accused her husband, Alok Sahu, and her mother-in-law of orchestrating the brutal attack over dowry demands, supported by chilling video evidence recorded by Krishna herself.
Krishna, originally from Semelmunda village under Gaisilet police station in Bargarh district, married Alok Sahu in 2022. According to her father, Krishna had been subjected to persistent harassment and physical abuse by her husband, allegedly at the behest of her mother-in-law, over unmet dowry expectations. This morning, Krishna sent a distressing video to her father, recorded on her mobile phone, which reportedly captured her husband assaulting her. The video has emerged as critical evidence in the case, shedding light on the horrific abuse she endured.
A few hours later, Krishna was rushed to Patnagarh Hospital, with her in-laws claiming she had fallen ill. However, doctors at the hospital declared her dead on arrival, raising suspicions of foul play. Her father, upon learning of her death and viewing the video, lodged a formal complaint with the Patnagarh police, accusing Alok and his mother of murdering Krishna over dowry demands.
