Nuapada: One person was killed while two others sustained critical injuries in a road accident in front of Komna Tehsil office in Nuapada district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Naresh Majhi (38) of Themra village under Bongomunda tehsil in Bolangir. The two injured persons are Yuvraj Majhi (24) and Jagannath Majhi (25) of Manigaon village in the district.
As per reports, the accident took place while the three bike-borne persons were on their way to Nuapada from Khariar. On the National Highway 353, an unknown vehicle hit their bike. As a result, the three were seriously injured.
On receiving information, Fire service personnel of Komna reached there and rushed them to the Community Health Center, Komna for treatment. There, Naresh was declared dead. As the conditions of Yuvraj and Jagannath deteriorated, they were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Police on intimation, reached the scene and initiated a probe into the incident. A manhunt has been launched to find out the driver of the vehicle who caused the accident.
