Motorcycle Purchase Scam! Youths Duped Of Rs 73k

Koraput: Two youths were duped of Rs 73,000 while they were attempting to purchase a Motorcycle online in Koraput district.

The victims were identified as Sachin Huika from Lakhmipur and Sukha Sarka from Khalkana.

Reportedly, the matter came to fore after the victims lodged a complaint at a local police station in this regard.

According to available information, the victims liked a motorcycle model on Facebook and first paid Rs 3,000 online for the KTM bike. Thereafter, the fraudster promised home delivery of the bike. The scammer also asked if they would pay online or pay in cash. Believing the seller to be genuine, the duo paid Rs 22,000 on January 21 and Rs 14,000 on January 22.

After receiving the money, the cyber fraudster asked to pay Rs 18,400 but later returned the money because the duo paid Rs 18,000. Later, the duo paid the asked amount.

Shortly after receiving the money, the scammers stated that their bike has arrived in Rayagada, the insurance work was going on. Later, they were asked for Rs.14.7k, and the duo paid money online.

Despite paying Rs 73,200 online, the bike was not delivered to their residence. Later, they found out that they have been duped by cyber fraud.

With no option left, the duo lodged a complaint in Lakhmipur police station.
