A shocking incident of domestic violence escalating into murder has been reported from Lalapada under Mahulchapal village, Bamara block, Sambalpur district.
According to police, Anthony Kisan (35) allegedly attacked his father‑in‑law Kalo Kachhap (58) with a sharp weapon late Tuesday night, killing him on the spot. The incident followed a quarrel between Anthony and his wife Amita, who had left for her parental home in Pindapathar after a dispute.
Kalo Kachhap had gone to his son‑in‑law’s house to pacify him and resolve the matter. However, the conversation turned heated, leading to the fatal assault.
On receiving information, Gobindpur police led by IIC Padmalaya Sahu reached the spot, seized the body, and detained the accused. Investigations are underway to ascertain the exact motive and circumstances behind the crime.
