Low Pressure Forms Over Bay Of Bengal: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said a low pressure area has formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal (BoB) and is likely to intensify into a depression.

According to the latest bulletin by the IMD, “A low pressure area has formed over the east-central BoB at 8.30 AM today. It is very likely to concentrate into a depression by tomorrow morning. It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 24 and further into a very severe cyclonic storm in the subsequent 24 hours.”

The cyclonic storm would continue to move north-northwestward and intensify further before reaching north BoB near West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and Bangladesh coasts around May 26 morning, the bulletin reads.

The IMD further stated that it is very likely to cross West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and Bangladesh coasts around May 26 evening.
