Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Odisha coast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The system is likely to move northwestwards during the next 2 days and under its influence, Odisha may continue to experience heavy to very heavy rain till June 30.
The weather agency has issued a yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Bhadrak on June 28. Heavy rain may also lash Khurda, Puri, Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Balangir, Nuapada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Koraput.
There is also a warning for thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur and Boudh.
On June 29, heavy to very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh districts. Heavy rain is also likely in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.
During the last 24 hours, Odisha saw fairly wide-spread rainfall activity with very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput and heavy rainfall at one or two places in Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Khurda, Rayagada and Jajpur districts.
