Paramount Pictures’ live-action video game adaptation Street Fighter is gearing up for its theatrical release on Friday, Oct 16, with box office projections pointing toward a potential #1 global debut.
The high-budget Capcom adaptation is expected to collect in the high-$30 million range domestically in North America and mid-$30 million internationally, positioning it for a worldwide opening weekend near $70 million.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film features a star-studded ensemble cast including Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Eric André, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa.
Releasing alongside Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin’s thriller Whalefall, Street Fighter faces limited tentpole competition, leaving word-of-mouth momentum to dictate its long-term theatrical run.
The plot follows estranged martial artists Ryu and Ken Masters as they reunite after being recruited by Chun-Li for the high-stakes World Warrior Tournament. However, as the competition unfolds, they uncover a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off while confronting demons from their past.
