A heartbreaking incident unfolded today in Kutinga village under Lakshmipur police station limits in Koraput district, where a six-month-old baby girl escaped narrowly in a sudden fire that broke out in a shop.
According to reports, local resident Suresh Miniaka ran a shop near the main road of Kutinga Panchayat to support his family. Today, while inside the shop with his wife and baby daughter, he was using a gas stove when petrol stored in the shop accidentally leaked, causing a massive fire.
In a desperate attempt to escape, Suresh and his wife with their 6-months-old baby girl managed to flee through the window. Firefighters arrived promptly and contained the blaze, but by then, goods worth over Rs 30,000 had already been destroyed.
While the shop owner and his wife sustained minor injuries and were admitted to Lakshmipur Community Health Centre, the infant was said to be safe. The incident has left the local community deeply saddened and shaken.
