A fresh controversy has erupted in the world of digital entertainment as the National Commission for Women (NCW) summons actor Ajaz Khan and Vibhu Agarwal, CEO of Ullu App, over explicit content from the reality show House Arrest.
The viral clip allegedly depicts women being pressured into intimate scenes on camera, leading to widespread condemnation.
NCW has taken suo moto cognisance of the matter, criticising the platform for promoting vulgarity and violating consent. The commission has scheduled a meeting with Khan and Agarwal on May 9 to address concerns regarding the show’s content.
Political figures, including Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi and the BJP’s Yuva Morcha Bihar in charge, Barun Raj Singh, have reacted strongly, urging government intervention. Social media platforms have been flooded with calls for stricter OTT regulations, with some users accusing the Ullu App of perpetuating unethical media practices.
This development follows previous government action, where 18 OTT platforms were blocked for streaming obscene and pornographic content. The latest controversy signals a growing demand for tighter scrutiny of streaming services.
