Junior Assistant Caught Taking Rs 20K Bribe In Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday apprehended the Junior Assistant at the office of the Chief District Agriculture Officer in Jharsuguda while taking a Rs 20,000 bribe to process applications for drought relief crop insurance and assistance.

According to Odisha Vigilance, Ajaya Pandey, Junior Asst. , O/o. Chief District Agriculture Officer, Jharsuguda,  has been apprehended while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a Complainant for processing his application regarding drought relief crop insurance for the Kharif season 2022-23 as well as for facilitating his last year’s drought relief assistance.

The entire bribe money of Rs.20,000/- has been recovered from the accused Sri Pandey and seized in presence of witnesses. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Pandey from the DA angle, the Vigilance added.

In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No.25 dt.21.11.2022, U/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation in progress against accused Pandey.
