New Delhi: Japan’s foreign minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will not be attending the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meet and is likely to prioritise parliamentary business, as per a report.
The reports had stated that Hayashi would skip the meeting due to domestic parliamentary sessions.
A deputy minister is likely to be dispatched in his place, the report added.
The reports had suggested that it is also unclear whether Hayashi would attend the meeting of the QUAD nations consisting of the US, Australia and India. Reports suggested that a deputy minister is likely to be dispatched in his place.
The development comes at a time when Kishida government is making efforts to bolster ties with India amid increasing concerns over China’s assertive behaviour in the region, as well as Russia’s war in Ukraine.
