Income Tax (IT) officials continued their raids for the second consecutive day at multiple properties linked to slain Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, intensifying the probe into alleged tax evasion and financial irregularities.
The coordinated raids began early on Thursday and have been ongoing across various locations including Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bhubaneswar.
In Sambalpur alone, five locations were searched, including:
-
Naba Das’ residence at Mudipada
-
Hotel Mandarin on VSS Marg (from where a hard drive was seized)
-
A hotel in Bhalupali
-
A shopping mall in Ainthapali
-
The residence of an associate in Sahajog Nagar
Officials also examined several financial records and digital storage devices.
So far, no statement has been issued by the family of the late minister regarding the ongoing raids.
This isn’t the first such operation. Earlier this year, similar IT searches were carried out on assets reportedly linked to Brajakishore Das, a super-class contractor and brother of the late minister.
The late Naba Kishore Das, a prominent BJD leader, was assassinated in January 2023 and had remained under the scanner for alleged financial impropriety during his tenure.
