A bus driver suffered a fatal heart attack while driving an Odisha State Transport bus from Vizianagaram to Malkangiri, but managed to stop the vehicle safely and save 25 passengers.

Driver P. Saikrishna experienced severe chest pain near Kunduli and immediately pulled the bus to the roadside. His quick decision prevented a possible accident and protected the lives of all passengers on board.

An additional driver and staff member quickly informed ambulance services. When the ambulance was delayed, the conductor arranged an auto to rush Saikrishna to Koraput Medical College. Despite efforts, doctors declared him dead during treatment.

The incident shocked passengers, who realised that his presence of mind had saved them from a major tragedy. The bus carried 25 passengers at the time of the incident. Saikrishna’s home was in Malkangiri, where his family received the tragic news.

Officials from the transport department acknowledged his bravery and sacrifice. They noted that his actions highlighted the importance of alertness and responsibility among drivers, especially when carrying large groups of passengers.
