Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Hadibandhu Pattanayak, Former Revenue Inspector of Kaniha, Dist‑Anugola, in a bribery case.
On Wednesday, the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Anugola sentenced Pattanayak to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
Pattanayak, who had retired from service, was charge‑sheeted under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe from an applicant in exchange for submitting favourable reports in mutation cases.
Following the conviction, Vigilance officials confirmed they will move the competent authority to stop his pension benefits.
This case underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued crackdown on corruption in the revenue administration, reinforcing accountability and deterrence against misuse of public office.
