Authorities rescued fourteen child labourers in Baipariguda during a coordinated raid across garages, hotels, cement brick factories, rice mills, and other establishments.
The joint operation involved the Child Welfare Committee, District Labour Office, District Child Protection Unit, and local police.
Officials identified minors under eighteen engaged in hazardous work. Thirteen girls and one boy were rescued. The children were presented before the Koraput Child Welfare Committee. Following directives, they were placed in a care centre for immediate protection.
Key participants included Child Welfare Committee member Suresh Kumar Hota, Assistant Labour Officer Rajeshwari Hikaka, District Child Protection Unit coordinator Tapaspini Padhi, Baipariguda police officials, and Balram Patra from Shobha voluntary organisation. Their presence underscored the seriousness of the operation.
The rescue highlighted the urgent issue of child labour in vulnerable regions. Authorities urged citizens to report any instance of minors working in unsafe conditions directly to the District Child Protection Unit. The appeal reinforced the importance of community vigilance in combating exploitation.
