Interim Protection To Sambalpur University VC, Two Others Extended By Orissa HC Till June 11

Bhubaneswar: In the Dinabandhu Mishra self-immolation case, the Orissa High Court has extended the interim protection granted to Sambalpur University Vice Chancellor Sanjib Mittal and other two accused till June 11.

Justice SK Panigrahi has directed the Additional Standing Counsel Mr. SK Zafrulla to obtain the Case Diary by the next date.

As an interim measure, the HC has directed not to arrest the accused in connection with Burla PS Case No 251, pending in the Court of SDJM Sambalpur, till next date subject to the condition that the accused shall cooperate with the investigation.

Sr. Advocate HS Mishra for the son of Dinabandhu Mishra and Sr Advocate Srinibas Mohanty for the wife of Dinabandhu Mishra strongly objected the grant of IP and submitted for arrest of VC and other accused.

Mittal is the prime accused in the self-immolation case of an employee of the university Dinabandhu Mishra on April 20. Two other staff members, Prof Biswajit Satapathy and Abinash Kar are also accused in the case.
