As Amazon’s billionaire founder Jeff Bezos is set to resign as CEO of the organization, he will be flying to space on the first crewed flight of the New Shepard, the rocket ship made by his space company, Blue Origin.

Bezos on Monday said that he and his brother Mark will fly on the first crewed space flight from his rocket company Blue Origin on July 20, just 15 days after he is set to resign as CEO of Amazon.

“I want to go on this flight because it’s a thing I’ve wanted to do all my life,” Mr. Bezos said in a video posted to Instagram. “It’s an adventure. It’s a big deal for me.”

Bezos, who already serves as Amazon’s chairman, will hold the title executive chairman after his lieutenant Andy Jassy becomes CEO.

In addition to its space-tourism efforts, Blue Origin is working on rockets that could launch payloads for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Pentagon. The company also aims to support widespread commercial activity in space in the future.
