Bhubaneswar: The IMD on Wednesday informed that a cyclonic circulation lies over the Northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal and extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestward with height.
As per IMD regional centre, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in several districts of the state. The IMD has also issued a warning for heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha starting September 2, 2023. A yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for some districts of the state till September 4.

- Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2023)
- Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2023)
- Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.
- Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri.
Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 04.09.2023)
- Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam.
- Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Balasore, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir.
