The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in several districts of Odisha between June 25 and June 27, following the likely formation of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and its surrounding areas.
According to the IMD, a trough currently extends from south Pakistan to central Bangladesh, traversing regions including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal at lower atmospheric levels. This weather system is expected to bring significant rainfall and storm activity across Odisha, especially in the latter half of the week.

Day 3 (June 24–25): Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore, with similar storm activity expected across most interior and coastal districts.
