India’s explosive opener Abhishek Sharma has surged to second place in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings, overtaking Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and closing in on teammate Ishan Kishan, who retains the No. 1 position.
Abhishek’s rise follows a blistering start to India’s ongoing three‑match T20I series against Afghanistan. He smashed 82 off 32 balls in the opening match in New Delhi and added 39 off 19 balls in the second, helping India secure a 2‑0 lead. His tally of 121 runs in two innings has pushed him to 862 rating points, just 51 behind Kishan’s 913.
The latest update keeps India dominating the top of the global batting chart, with Kishan and Abhishek occupying the first two spots. Sanju Samson also climbed four places to 30th, courtesy of his 57‑run blitz in the second T20I.
With one match remaining, Abhishek has another opportunity to challenge Kishan’s lead and reclaim the No. 1 ranking he previously held earlier this year.
