Panic gripped Tentulia village under Bangurigaon panchayat in Kakatpur block after more than 50 people fell ill on Tuesday night following consumption of Dahibara from a local vendor.
According to sources, villagers had eaten Dahibara sold by a hawker on Tuesday morning. By night, many complained of vomiting, diarrhoea, and dizziness. The affected were rushed to Bangurigaon Community Health Centre, where most recovered after treatment and returned home.
Locals alleged negligence in healthcare, citing the absence of adequate doctors at the centre. The incident has sparked concern over food safety and hygiene in rural markets.
Health officials have collected samples for testing and initiated an inquiry into the cause of the food poisoning.
