An inebriated man murdered his wife using a broken liquor bottle in Paikirapur village under Chandabali police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday night.
The accused, identified as Bijay Pati, was reportedly a habitual drinker, which frequently led to domestic altercations between him and his wife of 15 years.
On Tuesday night, a drunken argument turned deadly when Bijay stabbed his wife to death with a broken liquor bottle.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when the deceased woman’s maternal family was informed of the tragedy. They promptly lodged a formal complaint at the local police station.
Following the complaint, Chandabali police apprehended Bijay, who subsequently confessed to committing the murder. Officers have seized the evidence and launched an investigation into the exact sequence of events.
