Bhubaneswar: Taking note of several media reports regarding the custodial death of a youth inside the Golanthara Police Station, the Odisha Human Rights Commission today took suo motu cognizance of the matter and directed DIG (Southern Range) to submit a factual report within four weeks.
Besides, the Commission has also asked the DIG to produce the CCTV footage of four hours prior to the shifting of the victim to the hospital.
It is worth mentioning that a youth, identified as Ganesha Dakua, was brought to the police station for questioning in connection with a brawl at his village in Rangipura under Golanthara police limits. However, he was found hanging with his belt in the evening.
