Balasore: Police have busted a gambling den in the Soro area of Balasore district and detained nine persons in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, the Soro police conducted the raid at a hotel named Leo Sai Palace near Ice factory Square and detained nine gamblers. The cops also seized lakhs of rupees from them.
Reportedly, several allegations about gambling along with other illegal activities that were allegedly taking place in the hotel.
It is pertinent to mention that gambling is banned in Odisha. Under the Odisha Prevention of Gambling Act, 1955, the State government has declared gambling illegal and made it a punishable offense.
