The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of East Coast Railway has launched DSC ARJUN — Dedicated Security Chassis Advanced Railway Junction Under Network-Enabled Surveillance — an Artificial Intelligence‑powered robotic security platform designed to enhance passenger safety, station surveillance, and operational efficiency.
Unveiled in the presence of the General Manager, senior railway officials, and RPF officers, DSC ARJUN represents a milestone in East Coast Railway’s drive to build a technology‑driven security ecosystem. The robot integrates AI, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and IoT capabilities to assist RPF personnel in delivering proactive and responsive security services.
The initiative builds on the evolution of robotic policing in Indian Railways, which began in 2020 with Captain ARJUN during the COVID‑19 pandemic and later advanced with ASC ARJUN at Visakhapatnam Station in January 2026. The newly developed DSC ARJUN takes this innovation further by combining intelligent analytics with real‑time surveillance.
Equipped with AI‑based facial recognition, crowd analytics, unattended baggage detection, suspicious‑activity alerts, public‑address capability, and live video streaming, DSC ARJUN enables round‑the‑clock monitoring across platforms, waiting halls, parking zones, and other vulnerable areas. It acts as a force multiplier for RPF teams, improving situational awareness and facilitating quick decision‑making during emergencies.
Railway officials said the platform will help prevent crime, manage passenger movement during peak hours, and protect railway assets. “Technology is redefining the future of railway security,” an official noted, adding that DSC ARJUN will augment RPF capabilities and boost passenger confidence across East Coast Railway.
