Koman police arrested four accused from Jamnagar, Gujarat, in connection with a gunfire incident at Paer village of Nuapada district.
The arrests follow allegations that the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a love affair.
Police seized a pistol, one live bullet, and an empty shell from the accused. The incident, which occurred on July 20 evening, created panic in Paer village after gunfire was reported outside a local residence.
According to the complaint, four youths entered the house of Kement Nag while he was with his family. Allegedly intoxicated, they threatened him at gunpoint. When his uncle Trilochan Nag intervened, he too was threatened. The accused later fired a blank shot outside the house, though no injuries were reported.
The victim lodged a written complaint at Koman police station on July 22, leading to a formal case and investigation. A special police team traced the accused to Jamnagar and carried out the arrests.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Maan Shabar, Asik Shabar, Ramesh Shabar, and Suraj Kaibarta. Police are investigating whether others were involved and how the seized weapon was procured.
