Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida addressed a press conference at the BJP state office, emphasising that the 33% Women’s Reservation Bill will empower women and give India a new direction.
Parida stated that the reservation system will sharpen women’s voices in governance and strengthen their role in decision-making. She highlighted how women have become more empowered than ever before, transforming from self-help group members to successful entrepreneurs known as “Lakhpati Didis.”
She noted that women now outnumber men in voter participation, reflecting their growing influence in shaping India’s democracy. Parida praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his consistent efforts toward women’s development since taking office.
She announced that from April 16 to 18, Parliament will hold a special session dedicated to women’s empowerment and the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.” She described the legislation as a cornerstone for realising the vision of a developed India by 2047, ensuring one-third representation for women in Parliament and state assemblies by 2029.
