Sheikh Imran, a youth from Ganganagar, Bhubaneswar, faces investigation after Delhi Police arrested him for alleged links with extremist groups and posting anti-national content online.
The Capital Police detained Imran and produced him in court before handing him over to Delhi Police on transit remand for further interrogation. Sources revealed that the Special Task Force (STF) suspects Imran may have fallen victim to a honey trap that led him into contact with terror networks.
STF ACP Ravi Satapathy said investigators are exploring whether a woman lured Imran into associating with extremist groups. The Crime Branch and STF have begun tracing his local contacts and examining his financial transactions to determine if he received funds from any terror organisation.
Officials are also scrutinising electronic evidence, including Imran’s social media accounts, messages, and digital records. The STF has started questioning individuals who interacted with him and analysing his communications for possible links to radical outfits.
Preliminary findings suggest Imran maintained contact with extremist elements and shared sensitive information. Investigators are verifying what data he may have passed and whether he played a role in promoting violence or anti-national activities.
