Commissionerate Police have arrested three persons for allegedly attempting to murder a delivery executive after refusing to pay for an order.
The incident occurred late Friday night at around 1:30 AM under the Infocity police station limits in Bhubaneswar.
According to police, the victim, Rakesh Das, who works as a delivery rider with ‘Blinkit’, arrived at the location to deliver items ordered by a group of four men. Upon receiving the goods, the group refused to settle the bill. When Das insisted on payment, the suspects—who were reportedly in an intoxicated state—began verbally abusing him and launched a violent attack.
The attackers knocked Das to the ground and hit him repeatedly on the head with a heavy iron bangle (khadu), causing severe skull trauma and heavy bleeding. Infocity Police rushed the injured delivery rider to KIMS Hospital for treatment.
Based on the complainant’s report, police conducted probe and arrested three key accused Sidhanta Ranasingh (26), Soumyaranjan Das (24), and Utkal Gochhi (21). They have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder, and forwarded to court. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the fourth absconding accomplice.
