The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced a detailed process for students seeking verification of their evaluated answer sheets after the declaration of board exam results.
CBSE officials said students will now get an opportunity to first obtain copies of their checked answer scripts before formally reporting discrepancies or evaluation-related concerns.
The board clarified that marks may either increase or decrease after corrections are made.
Students Can Apply For Evaluated Answer Scripts From May 19
According to officials, students can request copies of their evaluated answer sheets between May 19 and May 22.
After receiving the answer scripts, students will be allowed to carefully review them for possible issues such as:
- Unevaluated answers
- Totalling mistakes
- Incorrect marking
- Missing pages
- Other discrepancies
The move is aimed at improving transparency in the evaluation process and helping students better understand how marks were awarded.
Second Window Opens For Reporting Errors
CBSE officials stated that students who identify discrepancies can report them during a second application window scheduled from May 26 to May 29.
A senior official explained that once complaints are submitted, a panel of subject experts will verify whether an actual error exists in the evaluation.
If the panel confirms a mistake, corrections will be made immediately.
Marks May Increase — Or Decrease
The board also issued an important clarification regarding score revisions.
Officials said that if a correction results in higher marks, the student will receive the revised score accordingly. However, if the review reveals that marks were awarded incorrectly earlier, the score may also be reduced.
The clarification comes amid growing demand from students and parents for greater transparency in board exam evaluations.
CBSE Pushes For More Transparent Evaluation System
Education experts say the revised process gives students more control and visibility over the marking system while maintaining fairness through expert verification.
The initiative is also expected to reduce confusion and improve trust in the examination system by allowing students to independently review evaluated answer scripts before applying for corrections.
The board recently announced several academic reforms, including policy changes related to language education and examination procedures.
