Bhubaneswar: The Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday turned down the bail plea of lady blackmailer Archana Nag, who has been arrested for honey-trapping many bigwigs.

According to reports, Nag was produced before the court via video conferencing mode from Jharpada jail. However, the court rejected Archana’s bail and ordered her to remain in judicial custody for the next 14 days.

Police termed it as a security concern but others say the cops are trying to avoid media attention as much as possible. While the cops are still tight-lipped on the case, Archana’s lawyer Debashish Mohapatra informed that they will move the High Court as the lower court denied bail in the case.

Nag was arrested last Thursday on charges of extorting money from many influential persons after honey-trapping them. She had moved to the SDJM Court for bail on Monday.

On the other hand, a copy of an FIR filed against Archana in Khandagiri police station on Tuesday has been obtained by the media. A young woman from Banki area filed a complaint against Archana. Following this a case has been booked by the police under Sections  419, 420, 465, 506, 120 (B), 66E IT Act and 67 IT Act in this regard.

In this case, the police have named Archana along with her husband Jagbandhu Chand and a young man named Khageshwar as accused. Khageshwar is said to be lady blackmailer Archana’s main accomplice.

On the other hand, the young woman from Banki area, who has filed a complaint against Archana, has stated in her complaint that she came to the capital in 2018 in the hope of employment. Here, she first stayed at Pramod Swain’s house on rent in Jagamara area. As the complainant and Archana lived in the same building, they had a good relationship.

In 2019, Archana offered employment to the young woman with a hefty salary. But later, she asked the woman to develop physical relations with various young men and video record the intimate moments and give them to her in order to get money. However, the complaint refused to indulge in such illicit activities.

Later one evening, Archana called the complainant to a party at her house and spiked her drinks. When the woman fell unconscious, the accused stripped her naked and clicked some nude photographs t through which she started blackmailing the woman.

When the young woman objected to such acts, Archana threatened to make her nude videos viral on social media. Later, when the young woman was at her native place during the lockdown, Archana again called her to Bhubaneswar and asked her to blackmail film producer Akshay Parija in exchange for the said video, the young woman mentioned in her complaint. Archana had demanded a hefty sum from the film producer.

On the basis of the young woman’s complaint, the police have registered a case and arrested Archana. However, Khageswar and Archana’s husband Jagbandhu, who are involved in this case, are still at large.
