Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam on Wednesday, the site of the horrific terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, most of them tourists.
His visit came shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi, cutting short his official trip to Saudi Arabia in light of the deadly strike in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah met with grieving families at the attack site, where emotions ran high. Many relatives broke down as the Home Minister offered heartfelt condolences and reassured them of strict action against those responsible.
Labelled as the deadliest terror strike in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack, the assault took place just five kilometers from Pahalgam town at the popular Baisaran meadow. Security officials confirmed that terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on unsuspecting tourists, prompting widespread outrage and mourning across the nation.
