A shocking incident took place at the Muribahal police station in Bolangir district, where a constable, Sudama Nag, suffered serious injuries after being attacked by an accused in police custody.
The accused, Magasir Parabhoi, was apprehended for allegedly kidnapping a girl whose family had rejected his son’s marriage proposal to her.
The incident unfolded after the police rescued the girl and detained Parabhoi and his wife based on a complaint filed by her family. During his time in custody, Parabhoi violently assaulted Constable Nag with a wooden log in an attempt to escape. The accused was quickly subdued by other officers, but not before inflicting grave injuries on Nag.
The injured constable was rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College in Balangir for urgent medical care. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, led by the Kantabanji Sub-Divisional Police Officer.
