Police raided a gambling den in Jethupali village in Nuapada district on Wednesday and arrested 23 persons in this connection.
Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the police arrested 23 individuals and seized cash worth Rs 48,225, sixteen mobile phones, and twelve vehicles. The suspects, all residents of the same village, were taken into custody, and a case was registered under the Odisha Prevention of Gambling (OPG) Act.
Nuapada Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra addressed the media, highlighting the negative impact of gambling on local youth. He affirmed that law enforcement would continue to crack down on such activities to safeguard the community and prevent further harm.
This operation is a testament to the commitment of the Komna police in tackling illegal gambling, which has been active in various parts of the district.
