Bhubaneswar: While the suspense keeps growing over the possible BJD-BJP alliance, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik convened a crucial meeting but nothing was discussed about the alliance.
The meeting was held at Naveen Niwas for about two hours from 5 p.m. All the election observers and senior leaders were present.
Since the state BJP has been exercising for 4 days in Delhi regarding the possible alliance and an important meeting was held at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah late on Wednesday night, it was rumoured that the alliance talk will make headway in the BJD meeting called by BJD on Thursday.
This morning, BJP state president Manmohan Samal returned from Delhi and said that everything was going well. In the afternoon, he happily accepted that there would be no alliance and said that the BJP would form the government alone in the state. However, he made a U-turn after an hour and said that the Center would take a decision but he was immediately summoned to Delhi.
Everyone expected that something big would happen at the BJD meeting at Naveen Niwas. After the meeting, all the leaders and observers were tight-lipped in front of the media and left quietly. Later, it came to the fore that there was no discussion on the alliance in the meeting
In the meeting at Naveen’s residence, the Chief Minister discussed the organizational situation of BJD in all the districts one by one. Along with the Chief Minister, 5T Chairman Karthik Pandian and party organization secretary Pranab Prakash Das were present.
The Chief Minister met the observers and discussed with them in detail, asking them to focus or prioritize areas where the party needs to be strengthened. Observers informed the Chief Minister in detail about the status of their districts and constituencies.
T5 chairperson and organizational secretary explained to the Chief Minister in detail based on each constituency. They also told the observers about the steps to be taken to strengthen the party.
This exercise went on for more than two hours. However, there were no discussions on the BJD-BJP alliance.
