Ganjam: Police on Thursday busted an illegal factory allegedly engaged in manufacturing adulterated chilli and turmeric powder. The unit was unearthed following a raid at Badabazaar of Pandav Nagar in Berhampur.
As per reports, huge quantities of articles used for the adulteration were seized during the raid.
Reportedly, the production unit was manufacturing turmeric and chilli powder by mixing chemicals and other harmful products. Besides, the unit did not have any trade or food safety licence.
As per police, many more are involved in the adulterated spices manufacturing racket.
On being questioned, the owner and the worker at the unit admitted that they mix “khuda” with spices in order to gain profit.
