Bhubaneswar: Young activist Muktikant Biswal of Rourkela, who had climbed atop an advertisement hoarding to stage protest, has finally been rescued after four-hour long operation.

The fire service personnel with the help of police rescued Biswal from atop the high rise hoarding safely. The fire tenders managed to reach him with the help of fire truck ladder and descended with him. He was immediately taken to Capital Hospital for health examination.

Biswal climbed atop the hoarding and threatened to end his life by setting him on fire. He took the extreme step after failing to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Biswal had walked all the way from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar to meet the chief minister and ask him as to why the projects have not been completed in the steel city as the CM had promised earlier.

The activist had tried to meet the CM after reaching Bhubaneswar but he was not allowed to do so, which prompted him to take the extreme step.

Notably, Biswal had met the CM in 2018 while the latter had promised to complete some projects including a bridge over Koel river and Ring Road in the Steel city.
