The Boudh district administration suspended two Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for neglecting duties during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
District Election Officer and Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak issued the suspension order against Birendra Behera, Assistant Teacher of Government Upper Primary School, Gandisar, and Shiba Chandra Gaan, Assistant Teacher of Government Upper Primary School, Kharbhuin. They served as BLOs for Polling Stations 176-Gandisar and 169-Kharbhuin under the 86-Boudh Assembly Constituency.
Officials stated that both teachers repeatedly ignored instructions and remained absent despite multiple show-cause notices. Their failure to perform statutory responsibilities during the SIR process prompted disciplinary action.
The Collector cited gross negligence, dereliction of duty, and disobedience of lawful orders as grounds for suspension. Disciplinary proceedings have begun under the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules for misconduct.
During suspension, the officials cannot leave headquarters without prior permission and will receive subsistence allowance as per service rules. The administration emphasised that strict monitoring will continue to ensure smooth completion of the electoral roll revision.
