A devastating fire broke out at the residence of Santosh Sahu in Padmanabhpur, Ward No. 12 of Titlagarh town, spreading rapidly to his adjoining godown and causing extensive damage.
The incident occurred when flames engulfed the house and quickly spread to the godown, where chemicals used in Sahu’s paint business were stored. The materials intensified the blaze, creating an uncontrollable situation.
Fire services rushed to the spot after receiving information and battled the flames for several hours before bringing them under control. Preliminary investigation suggested that an electrical short circuit triggered the fire.
Witnesses reported that the fire spread at an alarming speed, raising panic among residents of the locality. The godown’s chemical stock contributed to the intensity of the blaze, making firefighting operations more challenging.
Authorities estimated losses worth several lakhs of rupees. Officials are assessing the extent of property damage and verifying safety measures in nearby establishments to prevent similar incidents.
