According to reports, the children had left home saying they were going to visit relatives but did not return. Their families searched extensively and later lodged missing complaints at Tikiri police station.
Following the complaint, Tikiri police alerted nearby stations. During routine checks, GRP personnel spotted the three children on the platform of Rayagada railway station and rescued them from the Rourkela Intercity Express.
The children revealed they had come to Rayagada simply to roam around. Members of the Child Welfare Committee reached the GRP station and conducted counselling sessions with the minors.
