In a bid to ensure a peaceful and incident-free festive season, Central Range Inspector General of Police (IG) Dr. Satyajit Naik conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements for the ongoing Durga Puja celebrations.
During a video conference today, the IG met with Superintendents of Police (SPs) from all districts under the Central Range to assess police deployment and public safety measures.
The festive fervor is at its peak across the Central Range, with celebrations taking place at 1,243 Puja Mandaps. Major Shakti Peethas, including Maa Sarala, Maa Charchika, Maa Bhattarika, and Maa Sirlo, are witnessing massive footfalls. To manage the immense crowds and ensure top-tier security, 36 platoons of the police force, along with Home Guards, have been strategically deployed under the direct supervision of senior officials.
During the high-level meeting, Dr. Naik emphasized several critical areas to maintain law and order:
- Crowd Management: Strict assessment and regulation of entry and exit routes at Puja Mandaps and Ravan Podi venues.
- Traffic Control: Streamlining vehicular and pedestrian movement to prevent severe traffic congestion.
- Illumination: Ensuring adequate lighting setups at the pandals and all approaching roads.
- Fire Safety: Implementing robust preventive measures against fire hazards at all celebration sites.
- CCTV Surveillance: Continuous monitoring of major pandals through integrated CCTV networks.
- Amusement Ride Safety: Special focus on the mechanical safety and crowd control around Meena Bazaars, particularly the Ram Doli (Ferris wheels) and other swings.
To maintain strict vigilance, IG Dr. Naik directed all SPs to remain on high alert and coordinate seamlessly with other line departments and stakeholders.
In a stringent measure to ensure rapid response capabilities, officials have been instructed to submit a Situation Report (SITREP) every two hours until the idol immersion processes are entirely concluded.
The Central Range Police have reiterated their commitment to facilitating a disciplined, secure, and joyous Durga Puja for all devotees across the region.
